With the introduction of Scalextric Sport
came a complete redesign of the track with new, easier to join sections,
a more grippy surface and some great new track pieces making for
interesting circuits and the possibility of creating a six lane track.
The electrics have not been forgotten,
with Multilane Power Bases allowing you to build four or six lane circuits.
The old and new systems are still compatible

with a very reasonably priced converter track you can join to older
Scalextric track and all the Sport accessories will adapt to work with old and new track.
The cars continue to improve with many new
models, and a range of tune up parts.

Digital Control perhaps the biggest leap forward for many years
was very popular last year and with five sets all with the simpler easier to use
4 car power base looks set to
become the future of Scalextric.
Digital uses the same track as standard Scalextric but the powerbase is different
and the cars have to be fitted with a decoder.
With a Digital set the complete track is alive and you can drive your car anywhere
on the track, even change lanes and overtake, racing with up to 4 cars or 6 cars if
you extend with the new 6 car powerbase.
Most new cars this year will be Digital Plug Ready making
it a simple job to convert to Digital.
